Warts are non-cancerous skin growths caused by the papillomavirus and are common in children than adults,. Warts are a contiguous disease and there are different types of warts. Warts are not painful, except warts on the feet. Without treatment most of warts are cured over a period of time.

Common types of warts:
The following are the more common types of warts:

Common warts –occur around nails and the back of hands with a rough surface and appear in greyish-yellow or brown colour.
Foot warts –grows on the soles of feet with black dots and clusters of plantar warts are called mosaic. These are painful warts.
Flat warts – are common on the face, legs, and other parts of the body, grows often in large numbers.
Genital warts - grow on the genitals and are soft and do not have a rough surface.
Filiform warts - small, long, narrow growths that usually appear on eyelids, face, or neck.

Medication:

Application of salicylic and lactic acid (which soften the infected area)
Freezing with liquid nitrogen
Electrodessication (using an electrical current to destroy the wart)
Immunotherapy
Laser surgery

Warts in children often disappear without treatment.
